What are custom embroidered patches?

A patch (or embroidered badge) is a design made separately, on its own backing, then attached to the garment. It is created from your artwork, in the shape of your choice: round, shield, rectangle or cut to the outline of your logo.

Patches go on items that are hard to decorate directly, such as caps, bags or thick jackets, and can even move from one garment to another.

Who are they for?

Patches for clubs, companies, associations and scouts

Embroidered patches finish club kits, uniforms, workwear and branded jackets. They are also popular with scouts, schools and associations, who give them to members or sell them as souvenirs.

6 types of patches

Embroidered, woven, sublimated or PVC: which patch to choose?

Depending on your logo and how it will be used, we will recommend the most suitable type of patch:

Ideal for

Patches for jackets, caps, bags and workwear

A patch goes on almost anything. These are the items our customers put them on most often:

Souvenir patches for your events

Local festival, tournament, walk or club anniversary: an embroidered patch with the theme and date of your event makes a lasting souvenir, to give to participants or to sell to fund your activities.

Letters and initials

Embroidered letters and initial patches

Initials, a first name, a number or a whole word: we also make embroidered letters, iron-on or sew-on, varsity jacket style. A monogram on a jacket, a name on a bag, an initial on a cap… ideal for a one-off piece or a gift.

Clubs and associations

Club badges, crests and scout patches

Club crest, school badge, scout insignia or association emblem: the embroidered patch is the traditional way to show you belong to a group. We reproduce your crests and coats of arms in thread, with a clean, durable merrowed or embroidered border.

Leather and bikers

Patches for leather jackets and biker vests

A large back patch, a club name rocker, small chest patches: embroidered patches are made for leather jackets, vests and biker patches. Sewn on, they hold on thick leather and stand up to wind, rain and years on the road.

Themes and designs

Skull, flower, flag patches and more

Skull, skeleton, rose, butterfly, flag, Christmas design… We embroider the design of your choice to customise a denim jacket, a bag or a cap. Send us your drawing: we turn it into a patch. Trademarked logos and characters can only be reproduced with their owner's permission.

The budget

Custom patch prices: what affects the cost

The price of a patch mainly depends on its type, its size and the quantity. These are the factors that count:

FactorEffect on price
Type of patchEmbroidered, woven, sublimated, PVC, 3D or DTF: each technique has its own price.
SizeThe larger the patch, the more thread or material it takes.
QuantitySet-up is spread over the run: the price per patch drops sharply with quantity.
Number of coloursEspecially for embroidered patches, where each colour is a different thread.
Backing and applicationIron-on, sew-on or velcro, plus application to your garments if you wish.

Tip: minimum quantities vary by patch type. For a single item or just a few, a DTF patch is often the best option.

Embroidered or woven?

Embroidered vs woven patches: what is the difference?

An embroidered patch is stitched in thread on a fabric base: it has relief and a textured finish, perfect for logos with clean shapes. A woven patch is formed thread by thread in the weave: it is flat, finer and more detailed, ideal for small text and complex logos.

Your files

Which file to send for a custom patch?

Ideally, a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or vector PDF) with your colours. Otherwise, a high-resolution PNG, a photo of your old patch or even a simple sketch: we create the mock-up for you.

FAQ

Everything about custom patches

What is a custom patch?

It is a patch created from your design (logo, crest, text), made separately and then attached to a garment or accessory. It can be embroidered, woven, sublimated, PVC, 3D or DTF.

What types of patches do you offer?

Six types: embroidered, woven, sublimated, PVC, 3D TPU and DTF. We will recommend the best one for your logo, use and quantity.

How do you attach a patch to clothing?

Patches can be iron-on (with an iron or heat press), sew-on (permanent) or velcro (removable). We can also apply them for you in our workshop.

Can I choose the shape and size of the patch?

Yes, every patch is made to measure: round, shield, rectangle or cut to the outline of your logo, in the size of your choice.

How much do custom patches cost?

The price depends on the type of patch, the size, the number of colours, the backing and above all the quantity. Ask us for a quote: it is tailored to your project.

Do you make iron-on embroidered letters?

Yes, we make embroidered letters and initials, iron-on or sew-on, to personalise a jacket, a bag or a cap.

Embroidered vs woven patches: which is better?

Embroidered patches have relief and a textured finish. Woven patches are flat and finer, ideal for small details and text. We will advise you depending on your logo.

Are iron-on patches washable?

Yes. Wash the garment inside out at 30 or 40 °C. For heavily used or frequently washed clothing, a sew-on patch remains the strongest option.

How long do custom patches take?

Lead time depends on the type of patch and the quantity. Please mention your preferred date in your quote request: we will confirm the lead time with the mock-up.
